when i first saw the vivienne westwood + melissa collaboration, i fell in love. i had been coveting the pale peach shoes with the black heart after a friend went to the sample sale. i finally was able to track them down at revolve after some sleuthing (much cheaper than the ebay prices).
this is what i was expecting (the picture on revolve wasn't working when i ordered them):
but they came and are bright neon peach. they feel clowny, and i feel clowned. i keep looking at them and wonder if i can make them work with simple outfits.
theory katalina, vivienne westood + melissa lady dragon shoe
yes, no, maybe so?

the quest for the perfect nude
i've been through countless pairs of shoes in the past year in an effort to try to find the perfect nude shoe. i narrowed it down to three, and in the end, it seems like louboutins always win.
my three most recent attempts seemed to come the closest.
the first attempt was a pair from kohl's. it had been frenzied on makeupalley, and i rushed out to try them. they were a perfect match to my skin tone, yet the least comfortable shoes i'd possibly ever tried on.
apt. 9 patent pump from kohl's
attempt two - opening ceremony pumps from ebay. these came with a detachable bow and i fell in love with them when they arrived. the comfort level is amazing, but these aren't very close to my skin tone.
chloe sevigny for opening ceremony pump
finally, the louboutin simples. i ordered these on a whim when they popped up in my size on NAP. i find non-patent leather to be infinitely more comfortable, so i was thankful these showed up.

looks like the louboutins are keepers.

trying to desensitize the over-the-top
i've been going through my closet recently, and found i've become more and more conservative with my clothing choices. at first i thought it was just a sign of my getting older, but i've realized it's not so much that as it is me getting less courageous about what i wear. i am trying to rectify that little by little.
